Mindfulness: Finding Ease in the Storm, with Kimberly Carson, MPH

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Classes are based on the national model developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Decades of published research shows that those who complete the course report reductions in pain, fatigue, anxiety and sleep disturbance and an overall increase in quality of life. Classes include meditation instruction and practice, group discussions and educational presentations on the relationships between mindfulness, stress, and wellness.

Over four, one-hour virtual sessions, this course will be a balanced blend of the why and how of mindfulness practice. It will include education about mindfulness practice and its therapeutic mechanisms as well as guided mindfulness meditations and discussion. Participants will receive recordings of the mindfulness meditation practices for home use and will be asked to practice between sessions.
